About Us: Xplore by Active Life is dedicated to providing an exceptional guest experience at our ski resort. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Hotel Manager to join our team and lead our operations during the upcoming ski season.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-season set up - manage cleaning and set up of assigned Active Life Hotel including guest rooms, common areas and exterior.  This may include, but is not limited to activities such as travel, cleaning, packing, un-packing, shopping, stock-taking, setting rosters, making orders online and more
  • Assist with management tasks, such as creating staff rosters, payroll/records management and maintaining hotel inventory
  • Oversee all daily hotel operations in all departments, including front desk, sales, communications, online travel agent (OTA) platform management, payments, marketing, laundry room, bar/restaurant/café’s, kitchens, housekeeping and hotel maintenance/snow clearing
  • Assist other Active Life hotel managers as required
  • Supervise staff members working on-site and delegate tasks as necessary
  • Conduct regular and diligent quality checks of guest rooms and common areas prior to guest arrival
  • Manage and resolve issues when escalated to you
  • Manage guest relations – daily, diligent and professional communication with guests to maximize the guest experience of Active Life (and all of its properties and brands) according to seasonal theme of moving Active Life from “good to amazing”
  • Maintain and manage all operational budgets, profit & loss statements and company paperwork according to policies and standards as required
  • Assist with training, coaching and retention strategies as required. Conduct performance meetings with relevant staff, when needed, to update the team on hotel protocols, guest services, resort information etc
  • Enforce company cash handling policies and procedures, and other loss prevention policies
  • Role model and administer company policies and guidelines across all of Active Life
  • Manage inventory control – aim to meet and exceed inventory goals. Travel to Iiyama and surrounding
  • Demonstrate and maintain a professional standard of guest service at all times
  • Maintain good working relationships with other Madarao hotel managers and community members
  • Attend induction, training and team meetings as required
  • Ensure the team operates without any risks to the health and safety of any person
  • Demonstrate and maintain a professional standard of guest service at all times
  • Be a role model and administer Active Life company policies and guidelines
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of Active Life guests, following and complying with all safety and security procedures
  • Report any issues that arise to the management in a timely manner
  • Maintain professionalism at all times when onsite at any Active Life Property
  • All staff are responsible for keeping staff rooms and facilities to a high standard of cleanliness
  • Post-Season pack down – pack down and cleaning of all Active Life Hotels, including common areas
 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of ski resort management experience.
  • Fluent in English (Japanese proficiency is a plus).
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and guest service abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
